Scoring and Re-Testing

How do I see my scores?

Your scores will be available in ALEKS PPL immediately. Official proctored placement exams will be uploaded to the UNM system within two hours of completion. You can view these scores by logging into LoboWeb, click Registration & Records, click View Test Scores.

What does my score mean?

You can view what courses your score corresponds to on our Course Placement page. In some cases, your score may place you in several courses or in a higher-level course than your degree requires. Your academic advisor can provide you with further information about what your placement means for your math journey here at UNM and give you recommendations on next steps based on your degree program.

I’m unhappy with my score. Can I take the test again?

Yes. You may take a maximum of two proctored ALEKS PPL exams. Follow these steps to complete a second proctored placement:

  1. Students are required to complete a minimum of three hours of learning modules following their first proctored exam before they may take their next practice assessment.
  2. Students must complete additional practice assessments before their final proctored exam. Treat these practice assessments as you would a proctored exam: no external calculators, no notes, and no looking up information/formulas. Keep working on learning modules if your practice exams are not reflecting the score you are hoping to achieve with your proctored exam.
  3. When you are ready to complete your final proctored exam (placement assessment #5), contact testctr@unm.edu to request the password to take your second proctored exam or discuss options if you would prefer to come in for an in-person test. The second proctored test is available to all students remotely using LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor remote proctoring.

See below for the full path to complete a second official placement.
