CLEP (College Level Examination Program) is used to obtain recognition for college level learning. Depending on the results of your tests you may be granted academic credit, able to waive prerequisite requirements, allowed to begin your college education at an advanced or intermediate level, or provide with verification of requirements for certification, licensing or promotion. You will need to check directly with your institution to verify if they will accept CLEP results for any of the above recognitions.
The University of New Mexico offers the National CLEP test which is a computer based test. Examinees must schedule an appointment in person at the testing center. Seating is limited per date so early registration is recommended. If you cannot make your scheduled appointment please call to cancel and/or reschedule, otherwise you will be charged a $20 registration fee to make a new appointment.
Beginning January 1, 2014 all examinees must create an account with CLEP to select the test that will be taken and to pay for the exam. Examinees will then be issued a registration ticket to confirm test and test payment. Registration tickets must be presented when scheduling test appointments and on the test day.
On the day of the test, report to the Testing Center. Examinees must bring a current photo ID and their registration ticket and report at least 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment.
Scores for the test(s) will be reported in approximately 1-2 weeks after the test date. Scores for essay portions of the tests will be mailed 7-9 weeks after the test date.
